PRINTMAKING MASTER CLASS

22-24 March

This 3-day Master Class will cover 3 printmaking techniques and how to combine them. Over 3 days we will explore dry point, collagraph and lino to make a suite of hybrid prints. Learn to off set and register then create a concertina book of your experiments.

COLLAGRAPH WITH BOTANICAL PRINTED BACKGROUNDS

11-12 May

Make interesting substrates with botanical contact prints on paper. Leaf and rust marks in delicious natural tones act as a gentle background to intaglio prints made later in the workshop.

Using these interesting natural backgrounds print simply made collagraphs using glue and card. Add chine collee and blended inking to the techniques learnt in this busy weekend workshop.

INSTANT COLLAGRAPH WITH PACKAGING & TAPES

Thursday 6 JUNE

Spend an energetic day making and printing collagraph plates made with simple tapes and reused packaging. Explore your consumerism through print. Once the plates are made we will explore several inking techniques including chine collee.

PRINTMAKING WITH NATURE

14-16 JUNE

Over 3 days you will be working with nature as your inspiration. 
Create Joomchi which is felted paper and explore botanical contact printing to make substrates to print onto. Paper lithography and mono printing with botanicals will be explored to embellish the surfaces. Collage these elements together with glue and stitch to create beautiful, natural compositions which you will curated into a concertina pocket book made on the last day.

CYANOTYPE WEEKEND. NEW DATE

17-18 AUGUST

This intensive weekend will introduce you to the basic theory and practice of cyanotype on a variety of papers then show you how the colouring can be toned and changed to create one off imagery. Explore, basic cyanotype, double exposures and wet cyanotype. The weekend will stretch your thinking into the ways this process can be made your own and you will leave with a portfolio of samples and armed with all the information needed to take this process further.

SKETCHBOOK MASTER CLASS. Includes Gum Arabic transfer.

27-29 September

Kick start the new autumn term with creativity. Using paper lithography and the humble black-and-white photocopy as your ‘plate’, you can make prints of photographic images.

Spend 3 days exploring the pages of a small sketchbook using ink, oil pastel, bleach and acrylic. Learn how to create personal sketch book pages..

An ideal workshop to kick start your creativity.

Cost £300 to include a small sketchbook and most materials

PAPER LITHOGRAPHY ON FABRIC

11 October

Using basic photocopies as a printmaking plate, explore paper lithography for the day on fabric.

Get to grips with this flexible process and print on a variety of textile surfaces. Create a stash of samples to use in your fabric projects.

Cost £100 to include most materials. Bring black and white photocopies.

ADVANCED GELLI PLATE TECHNIQUES & PRINTING ON FABRIC

Thursday 24 October

Do you have a Gelli Plate and are looking for advanced techniques in using it? This one day workshop will cover a variety of techniques layering and over printing. Fabric will be explored as a substrate.

Cost £100 to include paper and paint. Bring your own Gelli Plate and roller.

FABRIC BOOK TO INCLUDE PAPER LITHOGRAPHY

9-10 November

Using paper lithography, acrylic resist, mono print, stitching and stencilling to name just a few of the techniques covered, create several excitingly textural textile books. At the end of the workshop you will have created at least 2 fabric books exploring layering techniques using traditional and non traditional textile materials.

VISCOSITY MONOPRINTING

Friday 22 November

This will be a day taking mono printing to the next level. Using the magic of viscosity inking create a series of fluid prints with several colours in one pull. A day to learn a little about ink chemistry.

COLLAGRAPH USING SILK AQUATINT

30 Nov- 1 Dec

This 2 day workshop will explore making and printing collagraphs using silk aquatint techniques. This is the collagraph version of mezzo tint and can produce beautiful tonal images using chiffon and glue.

Learn how to make collagraph plates and explore several inking techniques including chine collee.

This course is suitable for those new to printmaking and printmakers looking to develop their techniques.

Cost £200 to include most materials

All courses are suitable for beginners and experienced artists.

The weekend courses start at 10.00am till 4.00pm.

Bring a packed lunch. Tea and coffee are provided.

Printmaking is a messy business so old clothes and aprons are advised.

All course fees must be paid 1 week before the course start date.
