MIXED MEDIA SKETCHBOOK MASTER CLASS. Includes Gum Arabic transfer (Paper Lithography). 

7-9 October JUST 1 PLACE LEFT

Over 3 days you will fill up a sketch book, supplied as part of the workshop and explore your creativity. Learn how to beat that blank page syndrome that strikes us down as soon as we open a new sketch book. Learn how I develop my sketch book pages. This workshop will study mixed media techniques in further depth than the 2 day workshops held earlier in the year. Spend 3 days exploring personal imagery with light technical support.

GELLI PLATE MONO PRINTING

Friday 14 October FULL

Do you have a Gelli Plate and are looking for advanced techniques in using it? This one day workshop will cover a variety of transfer techniques using magazines and wax, together with layering and over printing.

Cost £80 to include paper and paint. Bring your own Gelli Plate and roller.

GUM ARABIC TRANSFER PRINTING (PAPER LITHOGRAPHY) ON FABRIC

Create a stash of textile prints to embellish and develop at a later date. Using a black and white photocopy, transfer indelible images of drawings or text onto a variety of textile surface.

COLLAGRAPH WITH A LINO PRINT TWIST

5-6 November 1 PLACE LEFT

Spend the weekend combining collagraph and lino print in one image. Learn  make a simple collagraph, add a lino motif and register your image

You will also be experimenting with blended rubs and  and will come away with a unique collection of prints on paper

MIXED MEDIA FABRIC BOOK

19-20 November

Using gum arabic transfer printing (paper lithography), acrylic resist, mono print, stitching and stamping to name just a few of the techniques covered, create several excitingly textural textile books. At the end of the workshop you will have created at least 2 fabric books exploring layering techniques using traditional and non traditional textile materials

Kick start the new year with creativity. Using paper lithography and the humble black-and-white photocopy as your ‘plate’, you can make prints of photographic images.

Together with a variety of mixed media techniques using ink, oil pastel, bleach and acrylic learn how to create personal sketch book pages and artist books.

Take monoprint to the next creative level by using viscosity inking techniques. Spend the day creating a series of coloured images and understanding a little about ink science. Basic mono printing will also be covered.

4-5 February

Using packaging and being inspired by its quirky shapes, create a series of collagraph prints using this accessible substrate. The ultimate in recycle and reuse. Using glue and self adhesive shapes and to include chine collee and viscocity inking methods

This 3-day Master Class will cover 3 printmaking techniques and how to combine them. At the end of the course you will take home an artist’s book of your experiments for future reference. Over 3 days we will explore dry point, collagraph and paper lithography to make a suite of hybrid prints.

Create simple, textural collagraph plates using glue and wall papers then print them onto a variety of textile surfaces. Make a fabric book of ideas and prints or pieces to stitch into to use in later textile projects.

QUICK COLLAGRAPH

Friday 5 May

Make a set of collagraphs in a day using self adhesive shapes. No waiting for glue or varnishes to dry. Ink these plates in several colours and explore over printing and chine collee.

COLLAGRAPH WITH A BOTANICAL CONTACT PRINTED PAPER

20-21 May

Make interesting substrates with botanical contact prints on paper and fabric. Leaf and rust marks in delicious natural tones act as a gentle background to intaglio prints made later in the workshop.

Using these interesting natural backgrounds print simply made collagraphs using glue and card. Add chine collee and blended inking to the techniques learnt in this busy weekend workshop.

NEW FOR 2023

PRINTMAKING WITH NATURE. Includes Paper Lithography & making Joomchi

7-9 July 

Over 3 days you will be working with nature as your inspiration. Day one will be all about making substrates, creating botanical contact printed paper with leaves and flowers and using these as the basis for sheets of Joomchi which is a Korean traditional felted paper. Day two will find you printing onto these surfaces using paper lithography and mono printing with delicate pressed leaves and flowers. Day three will be all about collage and making books to capture these precious natural samples. At the end of 3 days you will have a set of beautiful keep sakes to take home to demonstrate the new skills you have learnt.

The weekend courses start at 10.00am till 4.00pm.

Bring a packed lunch. Tea and coffee are provided.

Printmaking is a messy business so old clothes and aprons are advised.
